Fundraising Manager

Responsible to: CEO
Salary: £31,346 pro rata
Hours: 30 per week (0.8) whole time equivalent
Location: Home working with occasional travel to locations across the Lake District.

What We’re Looking For
To be successful in this role you will be an enthusiastic individual who can build strong relationships, adopt a strategic view and provide leadership to others, and has experience of working across a range of charitable income sources. As one of our main sources of income, were looking for someone with a good level of experience of developing and managing effective Individual Giving Programmes.

Purpose of the Role:
The post holder will be responsible for the management and leadership of all aspects of LDF’s fundraising activity. You will lead the development and implementation of our Fundraising Strategy, working across our key areas of income – Individual Giving, Corporate Donations and Grant and Trust Income. You will be supporting our small fundraising team to increase income from these sources, whilst leading on your own agreed areas of income generation activity. You will support the organisation to explore and test new income streams and to increase supporter engagement.

Main Areas of Responsibility
• Development and delivery of the Fundraising Strategy which aligns to LDF’s strategic objectives and reflects our main sources of income – individual giving, corporate donations and grants and trusts.
• Development of a Stewardship Plan, ensuring effective stewardship of all donors, through the development of effective practices and processes.
• Managing the implementation of these strategies, plans and processes with the support of a small fundraising team.
• Lead responsibility for the delivery of our Individual Giving Programmes. Key activities
• Lead a review of LDF’s Fundraising Strategy, working to increase income across all income streams.
• Leading on the delivery of activity to manage and grow our individual giving programmes to maximise returns from our existing donor base.
• Assist the CEO and Finance Manager with the preparation of our Annual Budget, and to agree annual fundraising targets, reporting monthly on performance against financial targets and other agreed metrics.
• Providing leadership to the fundraising team to ensure that targets are met.
• Ensure accurate and timely fundraising data collection and storage using the Donorfy CRM system, and ensure data is accurate, relevant, and appropriate.
• Collect, analyse, and interpret data to measure effectiveness and return on investment of different fundraising approaches, and inform future activities.
• Ensure that all giving is tax efficient, maximising gift aid income and working closely with the finance team to ensure gift aid declarations are accurately made and stored
• Working with colleagues who support communications and marketing activities to produce strong and compelling fundraising materials for a wide range of media
• Increase levels of supporter engagement and stewardship. Developing and implementing a stewardship programme including regular newsletters, mailings and on-line activity, and leading on the delivery of all stewardship activity for individual donors.
• Explore and test new methods for donor recruitment and increasing donations
• Liaise with volunteers, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders as necessary
• Promote the Charity’s work, assisting with demonstrations and in fundraising and awareness events as appropriate.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
• Recent experience of working in a fundraising environment, or experience in related areas including sales or marketing
• Strong evidence of fundraising success from a diverse range of funding sources in particular individual giving, major donors, and community fundraising.
• A track record in developing and delivering fundraising strategies and plans that support organisational growth and income generation targets
• Demonstrable experience of developing donor relationships and leading (or supporting) major donor fundraising with individual and/or corporate major donors (which we define as those making gifts over £1000)
• Working knowledge of donor and supporter contact management, including use of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) or donor database
• Experience of effectively coordinating the fundraising functions of a charity / organisation
• Knowledge of current fundraising guidelines and relevant legislation, including Gift Aid and data protection
• Knowledge of current fundraising trends, emerging opportunities, and best practice
• Experience of managing a team
• Experience of recording, monitoring, and evaluating outputs and outcomes
• Experience of working in partnership with other organisations

• Ability to create and implement strategic plans
• Proven ability to build strong and lasting relationships with a range of external supporters and influence and negotiate with external stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes
• Excellent coordination and organisational skills
• Ability to use a range of fundraising techniques related to securing unrestricted and restricted funding
• Strong communicator with the ability to communicate Lake District Foundation’s vision and
activities to a range of audiences using a range of formats (written, verbal, digital)
• Ability to motivate team members and volunteers
• Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent working knowledge of key digital tools including social media platforms, CRM/contact databases, Microsoft Office Suite.

Other Requirements
• Documentary evidence that you are eligible to live/work in the UK must be provided
• A home based role, with occasional travel to work with team members / donors across the Lake District National Park and wider Cumbria.
• Occasional evening and weekend work (TOIL will be given)
• Willing to carry out any additional work, challenges and responsibilities relevant to the role of the
Fundraising Manager.
